Autumn in Maine is spectacular and even more beautiful on a canoe trip. The Moose River is part of the Holeb's Public Reserve Land in a remote wilderness located in western Maine. The Moose River Bow Loop is a 34-mile canoe loop encompassing Holeb Pond, Attean Pond and the Moose River. We will paddle in open water to Class I-II rapids. There are two major portages on this canoe trek with one being 1 1/4 miles. The group must be able to carry food, water, canoes and paddles over the portages. We work together to complete a portage, no one does it alone. A true adventure and wilderness experience.
This is a four-day small-group adventure-based trip. Our group size will be limited to no more than 10 people, and participants are actively involved with all aspects of the trip, including daily planning, cooking, decision making, risk management, and other camp-related activities. We will travel with all of our gear for four days and stay at remote campsites. Here we have the opportunity to explore and investigate ponds, lakes, streams, forest, fields and wetlands. This area is rich in wildlife! We will be amongst moose, bear, eagles, beaver, song birds, and so much more!
Our campsites will be nestled close to the water’s edge with ample opportunities for sitting in a hammock, bird watching, and stargazing Maine’s undisturbed night sky. Campsites are rustic with a fire pit, outhouse, and picnic tables. We will set up tents and a kitchen area each night. Together we will prepare food over campfires or camp stoves. The menu will consist of wholesome and delicious foods. All dietary needs are considered when planning the menu.
This trip is for any adult or teenager. All teens must be accompanied by a guardian.
