​Now that the holidays are over, it is time to take care of you and ground yourself. A Wilderness Meditation Retreat combines the serenity of nature with mindfulness practices, offering a space to disconnect from daily distractions, reconnect with yourself, and can help cultivate inner peace.

This trip is designed for anyone who is willing to take the time to be fully present with themselves and others, creating a space to explore both their inner self and the beauty of the natural world around them. Many of the activities will take place outdoors, allowing participants to immerse themselves in the environment while engaging in various awareness activities, walking meditation, sitting meditations, and a selection of other enriching activities that encourage reflection and connection.

You will receive guided instruction in the following areas during this wilderness meditation retreat:

●        Mindfulness approach

●        Various meditations such as walking meditation, sitting meditations, and body scans

●        Awareness activities

●        Meditative art

●        Gentle stretching

●        Solo time and walks

●        Group dialogue and discussions aimed at enhancing awareness in everyday life

●        Tools for healthier lifestyle

This is a two-day wilderness trip. We will meet at Tanglewood 4H Camp. Participants will stay in rustic cabins with no more than four people per cabin. Cabins have no electricity but have wood stove heat. There are outhouses and no running water. We will bring plenty of water for drinking and cooking. All activities will be based around Big Pine Lodge. The lodge does have heat, kitchen, and electricity. We will prepare meals together and cook and clean together. The menu will consist of wholesome and delicious foods. All dietary needs are considered when planning the menu. 

How to Prepare for a Wilderness Meditation Retreat:

  • Physical Preparation: We will be staying in small cabins, hiking outside, and doing other various activities. Be sure to bring appropriate gear and clothing (hiking boots, clothing for the weather). A complete packing list will be supplied once registered.

  • Mental Preparation: Prepare for silence and the introspective nature of the retreat. This means setting an intention for your practice and being open to the experience.

  • Packing: Bring simple, essential items. We provide all the meals and snacks but feel free to bring snacks for yourself. A packing list will be provided once ​registered. Packing Personal items like clothing, boots, toiletries, a sleeping bag, flashlight, a journal, and any meditation aids (e.g., cushion or mat).

  • Expect the Unexpected: This wilderness retreat may involve flexibility in programming in terms of weather or conditions, so it's important to go with an open mind.

  • Meals (Saturday lunch and dinner and Sunday breakfast and lunch): Homemade soups, salads, sandwiches for lunches, eggs, hash browns, yogurt, fruit granola for breakfast, burrito or burrito bowl for dinner with homemade salsa, guacamole, chicken, beans and other fixings.

$250 per person which includes rustic cabins for one-night activities supplies, handouts, meals, and instruction.
