Northern Wilderness Tour
Dates: June 7, 2024, beginning at 9:00 AM - June 10, 2024, finishes at 5:00 PM
on Allagash Lake
Take time out to go on the canoe trip of a lifetime. This trip is for those who would love an adventure and would love to meet new people.
We will travel far North on rugged dirt roads to one of Maine’s most remote and scenic lakes, Allagash Lake. This is a large lake at 4, 210 acres. There are no motorboats allowed on this lake so it makes for a very peaceful experience. The lake is deep in the wilderness surrounded by rugged landscape. This is a very deep lake so perfect for cold water fish like native brook trout, togue, and whitefish.
In this four-day adventure, we will hike Allagash Mountain, paddle to the northern end of the Lake to explore Ice Caves. We will explore the natural surroundings which support a diverse population of wildlife including loons, bald eagles, beaver, otter and moose. We will learn skills such as paddling strokes, maneuvers, rescues, orienteering, weather forecasting, and boat maintenance. We will have time to soak in the experience, hang a hammock, sit by the fire, star gaze, and go out for a swim. At the end of the trip, we will travel by car an hour north to Tramway. We will hike in to explore two abandoned steam locomotives from the 1930s. These ancient beasts lay on old tracks on Eagle Lake.
The four-day small-group adventure-based. Our group size will be limited to no more than 10 people, and participants are actively involved with all aspects of the trip, including daily planning, cooking, decision making, risk management, and other camp-related activities.
$750 Fee Covers: all group camping gear, canoes, paddles, camping and road fees, food, and two Maine Guides.
